About Vdara
Vdara is a condo-hotel that forms part of CityCenter, in Paradise, Nevada, on the Las Vegas Strip, opposite CityCenter's Aria Resort & Casino. Rafael Viñoly designed it. As a joint venture of MGM Resorts International and Dubai World, it opened to the public on December 2, 2009, the first part of CityCenter to open. Its crescent-shaped tower has 57 stories and 1,495 suites, and the property is non-gaming.
The name Vdara is made up. Rafael Viñoly Architects coined it, taking the V from Vegas and the ara from California boutique hotels such as Ritz-Carlton Bacara and Park Hyatt Resort Aviara. The design earned a LEED Gold designation before opening. The tower's south side is reflective and concave, and in 2010 it was established that this shape can work as a collecting mirror, with the reflected sun creating extremely high temperatures at the pool deck. Employees and news outlets called it the "death ray", while management preferred "solar convergence".
Artwork is part of the design. Nancy Rubin's sculpture Big Edge, 17 by 23 m (57 by 75 ft), stands outside the entrance. It is assembled from roughly 200 boats and surfboards, including canoes, kayaks and rowboats, bound with stainless steel cable, and it is intended to look like a flower in bloom. Inside are a two-story spa and salon of 1,700 m2 (18,000 sq ft) and a pool area of 3,700 m2 (40,000 sq ft), and a walkway links Vdara to the neighboring Bellagio and Cosmopolitan.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|

- Tall crescent tower
- The curved tower is tall and slim in profile. Printing slowly with good cooling helps tall thin shapes, and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the curve smooth.
- Fine floor lines
- Fine horizontal lines mark the floors on the curved faces. Print friendly adapts small surface details to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print.
- One piece with the ground
- Vdara is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Vdara takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
Vdara is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Vdara STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Vdara grows with the print: about 47 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
