160 m of the Vehicle Assembly Building, 43 mm on your shelf
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Doors, flag and insignia
Tall door frames, a vertical American flag and a circular NASA insignia are shallow relief on the model. Use Full detail for the flag stripes and lettering, or print larger to keep them legible.
- High bay and low wing
The model steps down from the tall high bay to a lower southern wing. A 0.12–0.16 mm layer height helps the door tracks and roof vents stay crisp.
- One piece with the ground
The Vehicle Assembly Building is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Vehicle Assembly Building takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Vehicle Assembly Building
The Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) is a large building at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It was designed to assemble pre-manufactured space vehicle components, including the Saturn V launch vehicle, the Space Shuttle and the SLS rocket, and to stack them vertically on mobile launcher platforms. The building received its present name on February 3, 1965, and was completed in 1966.
It stands 160.3 m (526 ft) tall, measures 218.2 m (716 ft) long and is 157.9 m (518 ft) wide. Its footprint is 8 acres (32,000 m2), and the enclosed volume is 3,665,000 m3 (129,428,000 cubic feet). No other single-story building in the world is larger, and it was the tallest building in Florida until 1974. Outside an urban area, no building in the United States is taller.
Urbahn Architects designed the VAB, and construction began with the first steel foundation piles on August 2, 1963. Crews drove 4,225 pilings to bedrock, each 164 feet (50 m) deep. The north end holds four high bays, while the south side has eight low bays for storage and pre-assembly. The building was designated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark in 2020.
About this model
The Vehicle Assembly Building is one of more than 4,900 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
