About Virgin Hotels Las Vegas

Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is a casino resort with 1,504 rooms, in Paradise, Nevada, lying east of the Strip. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, as it was first called, opened in March 1995. Virgin Hotels and several investment companies paid $500 million for the Hard Rock in March 2018. Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group, had been eyeing a move into Las Vegas casinos for more than 20 years, and the resort matched the company's wish to run a smaller, boutique hotel in the city.

On February 3, 2020, the Hard Rock closed so that a $200 million renovation with a desert oasis theme could begin. The design team was made up of Rockwell Group, Studio Collective and Klai Juba Wald Architecture + Interiors, and the general contractors were Taylor International Corporation and McCarthy Building Companies. The pandemic delayed the reopening by more than four months, and the resort opened as Virgin Hotels Las Vegas on March 25, 2021.

A subsidiary of the Mohegan Tribe first ran the casino, which covers 5,600 m2 (60,000 sq ft), making the Mohegan Tribe the first Native American tribe to run a casino in Las Vegas. The Theater at Virgin Hotels is a music venue within the resort. A grand opening weekend celebration took place over June 10 to 13, 2021, once nearly all facilities were finished.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 700 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 15 mm 1:4,375
200 mm 18 mm 1:3,500
256 mm 24 mm 1:2,734

Long curved wall of windows
The curved hotel wing is a long wall of fine window lines. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the curve smooth and the lines crisp, and a larger print keeps more of them.
Small details on flat roofs
The low blocks have flat roofs with small boxes and edges. Print friendly adapts small details to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits large prints or a fine nozzle.
One piece with the ground
Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Virgin Hotels Las Vegas takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
