Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Upper floors at print scale

A tower this tall puts its upper detail in a small area at print scale. Slow printing with cooling helps, and 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers keep the facade lines crisp.

  2. One piece with the ground

Westendstrasse 1 is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Westendstrasse 1 takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About Westendstrasse 1

Westendstrasse 1 rises 208 m (682 ft) over Frankfurt's Westend-Süd district and has 53 stories. Completed in 1993, it forms the headquarters of DZ Bank together with the nearby City-Haus. Kohn Pedersen Fox designed it in a style similar to 1250 René-Lévesque in Montreal, an earlier work by the same architects. In 1995 it won a Best Building of the Year award in the multifunctional skyscraper category from the American Chamber of Architects.

The structure is reinforced concrete, with flat slabs and perforated facades. Each floor is around 3.6 m (12 ft) high and offers 950 m2 (10,200 sq ft) of floor space. Fine golden granite covers the facade, which gives the tower a white, bright appearance from a distance. William Pedersen was the architect.

The ring beam at the top, known as the crown, is meant to recall Frankfurt's history as the place where German emperors were crowned, and it faces the old part of Frankfurt where coronations took place at the Frankfurt Cathedral. In winter, heating keeps the 95 tonne steel crown free of icicles that could endanger pedestrians or cars below. Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen made the sculpture Inverted Collar and Tie, which stands in front of the entrance.
