  1. Trim on a villa facade

The window frames and roofline are the smallest features on a villa of this kind. Print friendly adapts them to a small print; a larger print or a 0.12 mm layer height keeps them sharp.

  2. One piece with the ground

The Yelagin Palace is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Yelagin Palace takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Yelagin Palace

The palace stands on Yelagin Island in Saint Petersburg and served as a royal summer palace for the imperial family during the reign of Alexander I. Alexander I commissioned it for his mother, Maria Fyodorovna, after she declared she was too old to travel daily to Pavlovsk and Gatchina. The architect Carlo Rossi designed the villa in the Palladian style, and the building went up in 1822 where an earlier mansion from the reign of Catherine the Great had stood. The interiors included work by Stepan Pimenov, Vasily Demuth-Malinovsky and Giovanni Battista Scotti.

The island takes its name from Ivan Yelagin, a former proprietor and a close ally of Catherine II. Yelagin retreated there to study alchemy and the extraction of gold from ordinary materials. Count Cagliostro was summoned to help him and left the island after Yelagin's secretary slapped him in the face. The first villa on the site may have been designed by Giacomo Quarenghi.

After Maria Fyodorovna's death the palace stood empty for long periods. Nicholas II leased it to prime ministers, among them Sergei Witte, Ivan Goremykin and Pyotr Stolypin, and Stolypin lived in a wing in June 1908. The Bolsheviks turned the compound into a museum of the old way of life. During the German siege of Leningrad in World War II a shell damaged the palace and it burned down; it was rebuilt and houses a museum.
