16 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Stepped, arched roofline
The setback roof with its arches is the most intricate part of this tall, narrow building. Use Full detail for larger prints, or a layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm to keep the rooftop steps crisp.
- One piece with the ground
1040 Fifth Avenue is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 1040 Fifth Avenue takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About 1040 Fifth Avenue
1040 Fifth Avenue, nicknamed the 10 40, is a luxury co-op on the Upper East Side. At 18 stories it ranks among the tallest of Fifth Avenue's limestone-clad apartment houses. The setback roof is asymmetrical and covered in pale yellow brick, with several tall arches, and its roofline is among the most distinctive on the avenue.
The building went up in 1930 to designs by Rosario Candela, a prominent designer of luxury apartment buildings in the city from the late 1920s into the early 1930s. It holds only 27 apartments. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis bought a penthouse on the 15th floor in 1964. She lived there until her death in 1994.
The facade is fairly plain, with sculpted faces on the fifth story as the main decoration, and has been repaired many times. A canopy shelters the entrance, which has cast-iron doors, and the sidewalk is extensively landscaped. The building is grouped with 1020 and 998 Fifth Avenue among the most prestigious and luxurious co-ops on the Upper East Side.
