  1. Tall, tightly packed block

The surroundings are tall buildings with fine window ribs and ledges. A larger print size, Full detail and a layer height of 0.12-0.16 mm keep those shallow lines crisp.

  2. One piece with the ground

18 East 50th Street is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

About 18 East 50th Street

In Midtown Manhattan, 18 East 50th Street is an office building on 50th Street's south side, halfway along the block, between Fifth and Madison Avenues. Its other names are Hampton Shops Building and New York Health & Racquet Club Building. Its designers were Lafayette Anthony Goldstone, William Lawrence Rouse and Joseph L. Steinam.

The Neo-Gothic design, also called Perpendicular Gothic, was picked because it suited the cathedral complex of St. Patrick's, across the street. The building rises 11 stories, or 12 if the mezzanine at its base is counted, with its roof at 133.94 feet (40.82 m). Its facade is gray terracotta that looks like granite, and it has no setbacks, since it was built before zoning rules required them.

Hampton Shops began in the early 1860s under the name Grand Rapids Furniture Company and sold traditionally styled furniture. The building went up from June 1915 to March 1916. After the firm went bankrupt in 1938, the building was divided and then let to art and design businesses. In 2016 the city's Landmarks Preservation Commission designated it an official landmark.
