About 262 Fifth Avenue

This residential skyscraper, 262 Fifth Avenue, stands in Manhattan, New York City, along Fifth Avenue itself. It is 260 m (860 ft) tall and has 26 apartments spread over 54 stories. Boris Kuzinez is the developer, and Five Points JV, L.P. represented the site's owner. The Russian architectural firm Meganom designed the building, and SLCE Architects is the executive architect. This was Meganom's first design for a building in the United States.

In 2015 and 2016 Kuzinez bought three Fifth Avenue properties (numbers 260, 262 and 264) for $101.8 million in all, and he paid $5.8 million for air rights. In September 2016, SLCE Architects filed an application for a Meganom building 54 stories and 283 m (928 ft) tall. Demolition of the existing buildings in 2017 started work on the site, but foundation construction did not begin until 2022. During 2022 the planned height was cut from 1,043 to 860 feet, and in mid-2023 a representative said the plan had shrunk from 41 apartments to 26. It topped out in April 2024.

Most floors are 14 m by 14 m (45 by 45 ft). Elevators and stairs sit together in a mechanical core at the western end of each floor. Its height is about 19 times its width, which makes it a pencil tower. The apartments average about 300 m2 (3,200 square feet). During construction it was criticized publicly for hiding the Empire State Building from many spots south of 28th Street, among them almost all of Madison Square Park.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

A very slim shaft
The tower is a very slim shaft with an open frame at the top. Print friendly adapts the thin top to your print scale; Full detail keeps all of it. Print slowly with good cooling so the top stays sharp.
Window grid and open notch
A fine grid of window lines covers the faces, and an open notch cuts through the shaft partway up. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep both crisp.
One piece with the ground
262 Fifth Avenue is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 262 Fifth Avenue takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
