5 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Mansard roof and ornate facade
The corner facades are heavy with trim, dormers and roof detail. Full detail keeps all of it at larger sizes, while Print friendly simplifies the finest ornament at small scale.
- Low wings behind the main block
Lower wings step back from the tall corner block, with small rooflines. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm keeps the roof edges and window rows crisp.
- One piece with the ground
The 32nd Police Precinct Station is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The 32nd Police Precinct Station takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the 32nd Police Precinct Station
Once an NYPD station house, the 32nd Police Precinct Station stands at 1850–1854 Amsterdam Avenue, on the corner of West 152nd Street in Manhattan's Hamilton Heights. Nathaniel D. Bush, the NYPD's in-house architect, designed it, and it dates to 1871 or 1872. The main building is French Second Empire in style, four stories tall plus a basement.
The facades facing Amsterdam Avenue and 152nd Street are almost the same, each with brick walls, sandstone and granite ornament, central pavilions and mansard roofs. A one-story wing links the two-story prison to the main building, and there is also an attached garage. The lot was originally 100 feet square (30 m × 30 m), and its corner position was unusual, since many station houses of the era sat mid-block.
The building served the 32nd Precinct, later renamed the 30th, from its completion until 1975. In 1926 the garage went up where the original stable had stood. When the police moved out, St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church bought the main building, while the garage passed to separate owners. New York City has designated the main building a landmark, and the whole complex has a National Register of Historic Places listing.
