22 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Slim stepped tower
The tower is narrow and steps back in tiers as it rises. Print slowly with good cooling, and use 0.12–0.16 mm layers to keep the steps crisp.
- One piece with the ground
400 Madison Avenue is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 400 Madison Avenue takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About 400 Madison Avenue
400 Madison Avenue is an office building of 22 stories on Midtown Manhattan's Madison Avenue, on the west side between 47th and 48th Streets and close to Grand Central Terminal. H. Craig Severance designed it with Neo-Gothic detailing, and the George A. Fuller Company built it from 1927 to 1928.
It rose within "Terminal City", the cluster of buildings over Grand Central's underground tracks, and uses the real-estate air rights over those tracks. The lot is narrow, roughly 200 feet (61 m) long and under 45 feet (14 m) wide. Offices line three main facades, with a small core of offices in the middle. Setbacks in the design respond to the 1916 Zoning Resolution.
Terracotta in a cream color covers the facade, and it was intended to reflect light. Although narrow, the building appealed to businessmen looking for small, imposing offices. The city's Landmarks Preservation Commission designated it a landmark in 2016, and it shows Neo-Gothic detailing from Severance.
