About 425 Park Avenue

425 Park Avenue is a New York City office tower that L&L Holding redeveloped together with GreenOak Real Estate, using a design by the architectural firm Foster + Partners. It stands in eastern Midtown Manhattan, on the Park Avenue block from 55th Street to 56th Street. Construction of the new structure started in 2016, and the building was finished in October 2022.

The earlier building, 388 feet (118 m) tall, was designed by Kahn & Jacobs in a modernist style. Construction began in 1954, and the 32-story building opened in 1957. In its place had stood sixteen four-story townhouses in a row, built by Robert Goelet in 1871.

L&L planned to keep 25% of the former structure so the total floor area could stay at 670,000 sq ft. It chose Foster + Partners after a competition in which 11 firms were asked to bid and four made the final round. The winning scheme has three concrete fins of roughly 200 ft (61 m) and three tiers of very high ceilings with almost no columns. The tower topped out on December 4, 2018.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Three tall fins on top
Three narrow vertical fins rise above the roof, the thinnest parts of the tower. Print slowly with good cooling, and use Print friendly to adapt them to the print scale.
Angled struts at the waist
Diagonal members show where the lower and upper sections meet. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep them crisp, and Full detail suits a larger print.
One piece with the ground
425 Park Avenue is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 425 Park Avenue takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
