About 461 Fifth Avenue
Standing on the northeast corner where Fifth Avenue crosses 40th Street in Midtown Manhattan, 461 Fifth Avenue is a skyscraper with 28 stories. The Mitsui Fudosan development group built it in 1988 to a design by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, credited to Raul de Armas of that firm.
The building pairs a 10-story base that echoes older 19th-century buildings nearby with a post-modern tower of 18 stories. Its walls are finished in pre-cast concrete made to resemble limestone, and the roof is a copper mansard similar to others in the area. A setback at the base lines up with the height of older neighbors.
Earlier, the address was a private residence, and between 1911 and 1915 an eleven-story office building replaced the house. That building became a Lane Bryant store in 1945 and was demolished by 1988. Within a year of completion, the new tower was 90% occupied, and it helped set off a boom in construction around Fifth Avenue.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

- Narrow tower, small crown
- The renders show a slim tower with a small roof crown. Print slowly with good cooling for the upper floors, and use Full detail on a larger print to keep the roof shape.
- One piece with the ground
- 461 Fifth Avenue is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 461 Fifth Avenue takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
