About 5 Beekman Street

5 Beekman Street sits in Lower Manhattan's Financial District, in New York City, just east of City Hall and its park and of the Civic Center. It joins the 10-story Temple Court Building and Annex, 46 meters (150 ft) tall, to a connected condominium tower named the Beekman Residences, which has 51 stories, stands 209 meters (687 ft) tall and holds 68 residential units. All three structures house The Beekman hotel.

The Temple Court Building went up between 1881 and 1883, with an annex added between 1889 and 1890. It was commissioned and first owned by Eugene Kelly, planned as offices for lawyers, and sold in 1945 to the Shulsky family. It was abandoned in 2001. Work on the Beekman Residences tower began in 2014 and finished in 2016, and the original building was renovated and reopened that same year.

The original building was the work of James M. Farnsworth and Benjamin Silliman Jr., who blended Queen Anne and neo-Grec details with Renaissance Revival, over a two-story granite base with red brick above. Farnsworth alone designed the Romanesque Revival annex, which has a limestone facade. Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel Architects designed the tower, which has pyramidal towers at its pinnacle.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 56 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 70 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 90 mm 1:2,344

Pyramidal frames on top
Open pyramid-shaped frames crown the tower. They are thin and open, so print slowly with good cooling, and use Print friendly to adapt them to the print scale.
Slim tower among taller neighbors
The shaft is narrow and closely hemmed in by neighbors in the scene. A larger print size keeps its window rows readable, and layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep them crisp.
One piece with the ground
5 Beekman Street is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 5 Beekman Street takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

Common questions

Is there a 5 Beekman Street STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. 5 Beekman Street grows with the print: about 56 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
