4 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- A very small building
This is a small, narrow townhouse, so its window frames and stoop railings are tiny. Printing larger keeps them readable, and a layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm helps the fine facade detail.
- Hemmed in by neighbors
Tall buildings crowd both sides, so the front is mostly seen head-on. Print friendly keeps thin stoop details sturdy; Full detail keeps every step and bar for bigger prints.
- One piece with the ground
58 Joralemon Street is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 58 Joralemon Street takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About 58 Joralemon Street
58 Joralemon Street is in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn. It was built in 1847 as a private home in the Greek Revival style, and it houses a vent for the New York City Subway. In 1907 the Interborough Rapid Transit Company bought the property, gutted the inside and converted the structure into what is billed as the only Greek Revival subway ventilator in the world.
The building also works as an emergency exit at the eastern end of the Joralemon Street Tunnel. Trains of the IRT Lexington Avenue Line (the 4 and 5) pass through that tunnel from Bowling Green to Borough Hall, past which the line is called the IRT Eastern Parkway Line (the 2, 3, 4 and 5).
The city's Board of Transportation took over the property in 1940, and the New York City Transit Authority did so in 1953. Its exterior facade and black Lexan windows date from a deal made in 1999 with the Landmarks Preservation Commission, meant to let the facility pass as a fake building in the neighborhood. Similar structures include 23-24 Leinster Gardens, a mock residential building that screens a London Underground route, and 145 rue La Fayette, a ventilation facility in Paris.
