11 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Long, low drill shed
The armory is a long, low shape between much taller towers, so its roof detail is small in a compact print. A larger print size and a layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep its roof and facade crisp.
- Mansard roof and arch
The front building has a mansard roof, a deep arch and projecting windows. Print friendly adapts these small parts to the print scale; Full detail keeps them for larger prints.
- One piece with the ground
The 69th Regiment Armory is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The 69th Regiment Armory takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the 69th Regiment Armory
Built for the National Guard of the U.S. Army, the armory has its address at 68 Lexington Avenue, on the block bounded by East 25th and 26th Streets, in Manhattan's Rose Hill area. Its alternate names include the Lexington Avenue Armory. The firm of Hunt & Hunt designed it in the Beaux-Arts style, and it was completed in 1906. It was the first armory in New York City whose design did not copy a medieval fortress.
The building has two parts. A drill shed in the middle of the block, to the west, has a brick facade trimmed in limestone and a barrel vault. East of it, facing Lexington Avenue, the administration building rises three stories under a double-height mansard roof of slate covered with copper. Its front has a massive limestone round arch topped by an eagle-shaped keystone, and iron grilles guard the long, narrow ground-floor windows.
The 69th Regiment had sought permission for a new armory as early as 1886. The site was settled in 1899, construction began in 1904, and the building formally opened on October 13, 1906. In 1913 it hosted the Armory Show, an event described as the first public presentation of modern art in the United States. The hall for drills has also been used for events including basketball games. The city has designated the armory a landmark, and it is also a National Historic Landmark.
