10 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Rows of sawtooth roofs
A long run of sloped roof ridges covers the main halls. A layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps the ridge lines crisp.
- Tower and slim chimney
A square tower rises at the south wing and a thin chimney stands near the west side. Print friendly adapts thin parts to your print scale, and printing slowly helps.
- One piece with the ground
The American Bank Note Company Printing Plant is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The American Bank Note Company Printing Plant takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the American Bank Note Company Printing Plant
In the Bronx's Hunts Point neighborhood stands a repurposed printing plant built for the American Bank Note Company. Its main structure has three interconnected buildings. The Lafayette wing runs along the south side of the block and is the longest and tallest, with its entrance beneath a tower of nine stories, while the lower, more massive Garrison wing stands perpendicular to it. These two were built first and make up most of the complex.
Construction ran from 1909 to 1911, alongside the company's corporate headquarters at 70 Broad Street in Manhattan. The Broad Street building's architects, Kirby, Petit & Green, brought in advanced engineering ideas, among them a sawtooth roof and large windows for better lighting, unit drive electric motors in place of line shafts, and more electrical capacity. The layout followed a philosophy that set the production lines first, with the building designed afterward to enclose them. A small detached garage was added at the rear of the block around 1911, the Barretto wing was added on the east side in 1912, and several expansions followed from 1912 to 1928.
Financial documents of many kinds, including international currency, were printed here. At one point more than five million documents came off the presses each day, among them half the securities then trading on the New York Stock Exchange. The plant was best known for currencies of Latin American countries, and a research department worked on improved materials and methods to deter forgeries. The company used the facility until about 1984, and the property has since changed hands several times and gained New York City landmark status.
