Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Curved, stepped tower

The tower steps in and out as it rises, with curved corners and fine horizontal banding on its walls. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep the banding crisp, and a larger print holds more of it.

  2. One piece with the ground

Astor Place Tower is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Astor Place Tower takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About Astor Place Tower

Rising 21 stories on Astor Place in NoHo, Manhattan, Astor Place Tower is a residential building also known as Sculpture for Living. The Related Companies developed it from a design by the architect Charles Gwathmey. At street level it has a retail base.

The triangular site was formerly a parking lot owned by Cooper Union, which gave the developers a 99-year lease on the land. A first scheme from Ian Schrager and Related would have used either Rem Koolhaas or Frank Gehry as its designer. It was to hold a hotel of about 100 rooms and a movie theater, and the lease required an "original artistic invention". In the end no hotel was built, and a luxury residential building by Gwathmey went up instead.
