23 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Stepped crown with arched windows
The tower narrows in stages to a small pyramid-shaped roof, with tiny arched windows near the top. Print friendly adapts those details to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, better on a larger print with a 0.12–0.16 mm layer height.
- One piece with the ground
Barbizon 63 is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Barbizon 63 takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Barbizon 63
Barbizon 63 is mostly a residential condominium tower. It stands at 140 East 63rd Street on Manhattan's Upper East Side, on the southeast side of the corner with Lexington Avenue. Earlier names include the Melrose Hotel and the Barbizon Hotel for Women. Palmer H. Ogden and Everett F. Murgatroyd designed the 23-story tower in a blend of Italian Renaissance and Late Gothic Revival styles. It has a National Register of Historic Places listing and New York City landmark designation.
The facade combines salmon-colored brick, limestone and terra cotta decoration, which runs from a base of three stories, through a shaft of 15 stories, to a tower of five. Setbacks are numerous, and large arched windows mark the upper stories. Residents had a swimming pool, a gymnasium, a private library, a solarium and Victorian-style Turkish baths. The upper stories first held 655 bedrooms.
Opening on October 31, 1927, the hotel at first catered to women working in the arts. For women only, it was a residential hotel from 1927 until 1981, accepting male guests starting February 14, 1981. At various times it rented rooms to the Ford Modeling Agency, Mademoiselle magazine and the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School. Condominium conversion took place between 2005 and 2006.
