About Bartow–Pell Mansion

The Bartow–Pell Mansion is a house museum on Shore Road in the Bronx, New York City, at the northern end of Pelham Bay Park. Its two stories date from the mid-19th century, and the architect is unknown. The facade is Greek Revival, the interiors are Federal in style, and no other manor house survives in the area. Robert Bartow, who was related to the Pell family, put up this house at some point from 1836 to 1842.

Thomas Pell bought the estate from the native Siwanoy in 1654, and the Pell family built two earlier residences on it, in 1675 and 1790. The Bartow and Pell families held the property until New York City's government bought it in 1888. Empty until 1914, it was then leased by the International Garden Club, which converted it to a clubhouse and took up residence there in 1915. Mayor Fiorello La Guardia spent the summer of 1936 there, and part of the house opened as a museum in May 1946.

Wings extend from either side of the main block, which sits on a north-south axis, and the stone facade has balconies and large windows. Inside, an elliptical staircase rises in the square central hall of the first floor. The grounds cover 9 acres (3.6 ha). On them stand a carriage house of three stories, terraced gardens that look out toward Long Island Sound, and a small Pell family burial plot. The facade, interior and grounds are a New York City landmark and a National Historic Landmark.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes

Chimneys and thin balcony rails
The roofs carry several slim chimneys, and the balconies have fine railings. "Print friendly" adapts these thin parts to the print scale; "Full detail" keeps them, which suits a larger print.
Small model, fine facade
This is a low building, so it prints small. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm keeps the stone corner blocks and window lines readable.
One piece with the ground
Bartow–Pell Mansion is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Bartow–Pell Mansion takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
