Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Slim tower and thin cap

The tall, narrow shaft, the railed gallery and the pointed cap with its tiny tip are the most delicate parts. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, best printed slowly at a larger size.

  2. One piece with the ground

The Blackwell Island Light is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Blackwell Island Light takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Blackwell Island Light

The Blackwell Island Light, also known as Blackwell Island Lighthouse and later as Roosevelt Island Lighthouse, is a stone lighthouse that the government of New York City built in 1872. It stands in Lighthouse Park on Roosevelt Island, an island in the East River, at its northern end. Roosevelt Island was called Welfare Island between 1921 and 1973.

James Renwick Jr. was the supervising architect, and he also designed other buildings on the island. The lighthouse stands about 50 feet (15 m) tall and is made of gray gneiss, rough ashlar cut from stone that penitentiary inmates quarried on the island itself. Both the base and the shaft are octagonal. The entrance is on the south side, beneath a gable that projects forward and a pointed Gothic arch, and two slit windows light the interior.

A band of ornamented corbels sits below the gallery, which has an iron railing, and the octagonal lantern has a shallow conical roof. Photographs and film from 1893 and 1903 suggest it likely wore a far taller, steeper cap when built. The city, not the U.S. Lighthouse Board, operated the light, until about 1940. Restoration work finished in 1998, and the National Register of Historic Places added the lighthouse on March 16, 1972.
