27 m of the British Empire Building, 10 mm on your shelf
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Stepped roofline and rooftop details
The setbacks and small rooftop features are the finest parts of this model. A larger print and 0.12-0.16 mm layers keep the steps clear.
- One piece with the ground
The British Empire Building is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The British Empire Building takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the British Empire Building
620 Fifth Avenue, as the British Empire Building is also known, is a commercial building within Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan. It was completed in 1933 and has six stories. Raymond Hood, the lead architect of Rockefeller Center, is credited with the Art Deco design, and the Associated Architects of Rockefeller Center designed all of the complex's buildings in that style.
The limestone facade has its main entrance on Fifth Avenue, while 50th Street and Channel Gardens each have secondary entrances. The top steps back in places and holds a roof garden and, partly, a seventh-story penthouse. Lee Lawrie and Carl Paul Jennewein decorated the entrances, and Rene Paul Chambellan did the windows. The New York Times gives its height as 90 feet (27 m), measured to the top of the sixth story.
Its near-twin, La Maison Francaise, lies to the south, and the two stand on either side of Channel Gardens, a planted pedestrian esplanade that leads west to the Lower Plaza. The International Building, a high-rise, lies to the north, and the three make up the International Complex. A lease signed by the British government in January 1932 started the work, and the building first housed mostly British companies.
