10 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Columns and a sculpted entrance
Two tall columns flank the entrance on the south face, with fine carved ornament around it. Full detail keeps all of it on large prints; Print friendly simplifies it at small sizes.
- Wedge plan with roof domes
The plan is a wedge with a slim mast and two small domes on the roof. Slow printing helps the thin mast, and 0.12-0.16 mm layers keep the cornice lines crisp.
- One piece with the ground
The Bronx Borough Courthouse is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Bronx Borough Courthouse takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Bronx Borough Courthouse
The Bronx Borough Courthouse, often called the Old Bronx Borough Courthouse, sits in Melrose, the Bronx. Work ran from 1905 to 1914 on a site by Boston Road, St. Anns Avenue, Third Avenue and 161st Street. In front of it stood a 161st Street station of the IRT Third Avenue elevated line. The total construction cost was $2,000,000.
The building is in the Beaux-Arts style. It has four stories, faces south toward Manhattan, and was erected in granite. Inside, it was adorned with grand stairways, chandeliers, ornaments and stained glass. Two pillars above the entranceway frame a sculpture of Lady Justice by Jules Edouard Roiné. Two architects, Michael J. Garvin and Oscar F. Bluemner, are credited with its design.
Its courtrooms served the borough's Supreme, Surrogate's and County Courts for two decades, until a larger Bronx County Courthouse opened in 1934. A Criminal Court branch for the Bronx remained until 1977. The city sealed the doors for good that year. The building became a New York City Landmark in 1981, and it is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
