  1. Domed bell tower and cross

The single tower ends in a small dome with a cross on top. Print friendly adapts thin tips like this to the print scale; Full detail keeps them for larger prints. Print slowly for a clean top.

  2. Hemmed in by tall buildings

Tall neighbors hide most of the church from some sides, so a larger print size helps the visible walls and roofs stay readable.

  3. One piece with the ground

The Cathedral Basilica of St. James, Brooklyn is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Cathedral Basilica of St. James, Brooklyn takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Cathedral Basilica of St. James, Brooklyn

Downtown Brooklyn holds the Cathedral Basilica of Saint James, at the junction of Jay Street and Cathedral Place. It serves as the Diocese of Brooklyn's cathedral. George H. Streeton designed it in the Neo-Georgian style, and it was built in 1903. Pope John Paul II issued the decree Prima inter Civitatis on May 6, 1982, elevating the shrine to Minor Basilica status.

A first church went up on the site in 1822–1823, and Bishop John Connolly dedicated it under the patronage of St. James on August 28, 1823. When the diocese was created in 1853, that church became Brooklyn's cathedral. John Loughlin, the first bishop of Brooklyn, planned a newer cathedral in Fort Greene, but construction stopped for lack of funds. In 1896 a successor bishop designated St. James a pro-cathedral. The current church was built in 1903, but only in 1972 did it regain cathedral status.

Because St. James is small, many major ceremonies take place at larger churches. For that reason the diocese added a co-cathedral in 2013: St. Joseph's, the church in Prospect Heights. Pope John Paul II, newly elected, visited St. James in 1979 and formally designated it a basilica in 1982.
