About Château de Chambord
The Château de Chambord sits in Chambord, in France’s Centre-Val de Loire region. Its French Renaissance style, which combines medieval French forms with classical Renaissance structures, has led to it being called one of the most recognizable châteaux anywhere. Francis I of France commissioned it, and construction ran from 1519 to 1547. No château in the Loire Valley is larger. It was meant as a hunting lodge for the king, who kept his royal residences at Blois and Amboise.
At its core is a keep flanked by four bastion towers, and that keep also helps form the front wall of a bigger enclosure. Inside are 440 rooms, with 282 fireplaces and 84 staircases. The roofline, often likened to a town’s skyline, has 11 kinds of tower and three types of chimney, arranged without symmetry. The centerpiece is an open double-spiral staircase whose two spirals climb three floors without ever meeting. The walls and towers, plus a moat that circles only part of the building, are decorative, since the château was never meant to defend against enemies.
The Tuscan architect Domenico da Cortona is credited, with some doubts, with the original design, and Leonardo da Vinci may also have influenced it. Pierre Neveu oversaw the work on site, and the plans changed considerably over the 28 years of building. Francis I wanted the château to resemble the skyline of Constantinople, yet he spent barely seven weeks at Chambord in total. A wooded park and game reserve of 52.5 square kilometers (13,000 acres), enclosed by a 31-kilometer (19-mile) wall, surrounds the château.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|

- A crowded roofline
- The center of the château is packed with small chimneys and pointed roofs. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale, while Full detail keeps every one, which suits a larger print or a fine nozzle.
- Tall towers with pointed caps
- Round corner towers end in sharp cone-shaped caps. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm and a slower print speed help the tips stay crisp.
- One piece with the ground
- Château de Chambord is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Château de Chambord takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
Château de Chambord is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Common questions
Is there a Château de Chambord STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Château de Chambord grows with the print: about 15 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
