About the Church of the Holy Innocents, Brooklyn
Holy Innocents, formally the Church of the Holy Innocents, serves as a Roman Catholic parish church of the Diocese of Brooklyn, at 279 East 17th Street in Flatbush, Brooklyn. It dates from 1923, in Late Gothic Revival style, and its granite walls have limestone trim.
The church has a tall nave with a clerestory and a gable roof, side aisles that are lower and flat-roofed, transepts, a chancel and a tall bell tower. A rectory (1923) and a school (1914) are attached to it. The National Register of Historic Places includes the church.
Its organ dates from 1922 and came from the Boston firm of Ernest M. Skinner, as Opus 390, with 3 manuals, 33 stops and 32 ranks. The Peragallo Pipe Organ Company, based in Paterson, rebuilt it in 2005. Several episodes of the AMC series Mad Men show the church, as the one where the character Peggy Olson and her family worshipped.
