  1. Domes to watch

Domes are small, rounded forms at the top of a church. Print friendly adapts them at small sizes, while a larger print with Full detail and a 0.12–0.16 mm layer height keeps their shapes clean.

  2. One piece with the ground

The Dormition Cathedral, Moscow is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Dormition Cathedral, Moscow takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Dormition Cathedral, Moscow

The Cathedral of the Dormition, or Assumption Cathedral, is a Russian Orthodox church standing north of Cathedral Square in the Moscow Kremlin, Russia. It is seen as Muscovite Russia's mother church. A first stone cathedral was built in 1326 under Ivan I. After an earthquake caused a new building to collapse in 1474, Ivan III invited Aristotele Fioravanti, an engineer and architect from Bologna in Italy, to design the cathedral from scratch.

The foundation was laid in 1475, and the cathedral was consecrated in 1479. Fioravanti studied Russian methods of building in Vladimir and designed a light, spacious church that blended Renaissance spirit with Russian traditions. It has six pillars and five apses, with five domes on top, and its walls use carefully trimmed blocks of white stone. The five domes stand for Jesus Christ and the Four Evangelists, and the design became a template for numerous other churches across Russia.

From 1547 to 1896, Russian monarchs were crowned here. Most of the Metropolitans of Moscow and the Patriarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church are buried here, and the cathedral forms part of the Moscow Kremlin Museums. After the 1917 Russian Revolution, the Bolshevik government turned it into a museum. In 1990 it went back to the church for periodic services, and in 1991 the Russian Orthodox Church regained it.
