  1. Turrets along the roofline

Small stone turrets and projections along the roofline are the finest details. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail and a larger print keep more of them.

  2. One piece with the ground

The Duke Ellington House is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Duke Ellington House takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Duke Ellington House

The Duke Ellington House, a historic residence, is at 935 St. Nicholas Avenue, in Upper Manhattan's Washington Heights, where St. Nicholas Avenue meets 157th Street at its southwest corner. Late Gothic Revival in style, this six-story masonry building dates from 1915. It holds National Historic Landmark status, granted in 1976, and the city designated it a landmark in 2023.

The ground floor reads as a raised basement, banded with horizontal stonework between its windows. The four middle floors are essentially identical, and some columns of window bays have decorative carved panels between floors. The top-floor windows sit in peaked-arch openings with more elaborate surrounds. A parapet topped with stone turrets and projections crowns the building, and two entrance bays in the middle of the St. Nicholas Avenue front are deeply recessed in peaked-arch openings.

An apartment in this building was the home of the African American composer and jazz pianist Duke Ellington (1899–1974). By the time he moved in, in 1939, he was already well known across the country. During his years here he wrote several major works, including Black, Brown and Beige, which was his first major extended jazz composition for chorus and orchestra.
