5 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Slender tower and railed gallery
A tapered tower carries a thin railing and a small lantern room with a finial. Print friendly adapts these thin parts to the print scale; Full detail keeps them for larger prints. Print slowly near the top.
- Chimneys and window detail
The keeper's house has small chimneys, gables and recessed windows. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm keeps them crisp, and a larger print size helps them survive.
- One piece with the ground
Execution Rocks Light is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Execution Rocks Light takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Execution Rocks Light
Execution Rocks Light marks a spot in the middle of New York's Long Island Sound, at the line dividing New Rochelle from Sands Point. The granite tower has a white coat with a brown band at its middle and its white light flashes every 10 seconds. An attached stone keeper's house has stood empty since automation of the light in 1979.
Congress appropriated $25,000 for the lighthouse in March 1847. Alexander Parris designed it, with construction completed in 1849, and it began operating in 1850. It is described as an early instance of "wave swept tower" engineering, standing on a protective rip-rap artificial island of about 0.3 acre with a small boat basin. The keeper's dwelling, built of cut granite, dates from 1867–68, has 2.5 floors and is in the Gothic Revival style. Once it was built, keepers could leave the cramped tower as their home.
The lighthouse lived through a fire and a shipwreck. A fire of unknown origin in 1918 caused $13,500 in damage and destroyed the engine house and machinery. In 1979, automation came with a VEGA lantern in place of the Fresnel lens. The island is under United States Coast Guard authority and off limits to the public, though it can be seen from the Throgs Neck Bridge. Since 2007 the National Register of Historic Places has listed it as Execution Rocks Light Station.
