Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Shallow carving up front

A stone front like this carries its detail in shallow carving and trim, which softens at small sizes. A larger print, or Full detail with 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers, keeps the surface detail readable.

  2. A low, wide block

The building sits low and wide, so it uses little of the print's height. That leaves room to scale it up, which helps the roofline read.

  3. One piece with the ground

The Folger Shakespeare Library is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Folger Shakespeare Library takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Folger Shakespeare Library

Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., is home to the Folger Shakespeare Library, an independent research library. Its collection of printed Shakespeare is the largest in the world, and it is a primary repository for rare material from Britain and Europe between 1500 and 1750. The National Register of Historic Places lists the building.

Henry Clay Folger, an executive of Standard Oil of New York who had collected Shakespeareana since 1889, founded the library with his wife Emily Jordan Folger. The cornerstone was laid in May 1930, and Folger died soon afterward; his fortune went into a trust administered by Amherst College, and Emily Folger paid for the work to be finished. It opened on April 23, 1932, a date believed to be Shakespeare's birthday.

Paul Philippe Cret designed the main building. The white marble front is carved with nine reliefs of Shakespearean scenes by John Gregory, and with inscriptions that Henry Folger chose himself; a cast in aluminum of Brenda Putnam's Puck stands there too, and the interior, Tudor in style, has oak paneling and plaster ceilings. The library is private, endowed, and administered by Amherst College's trustees, and its Folger Theatre produces Shakespeare-inspired plays.
