About the Four Seasons Hotel New York

Midtown Manhattan, in New York City, is home to the Four Seasons Hotel New York, a luxury property that opened in 1993. The building is 682 feet (208 m) tall and has 52 stories. It was announced as the Regent New York Hotel in January 1989, with a 46-story main tower, plus a smaller tower of roughly 20 stories, for 400 rooms in all.

The architects were I. M. Pei and Frank Williams, who worked together, and Pei was also responsible for the interiors of the hotel's public spaces. Structural engineering came from Rosenwasser/Grossman Consulting Engineers. The hotel is noted for luxurious interiors with an art moderne quality, and it has more in common with 1920s hotels such as the Waldorf Astoria than with Pei's other works.

In the 1980s, the real estate developer William Zeckendorf put together a vacant property of 2,300 m2 (25,000 square feet) on 57th Street. It lay between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue. A consortium of six Japanese banks financed construction, which reportedly ran above US$1 million for each room. In August 1992 Four Seasons Hotels took a 20 percent share of Regent International, and the property opened in 1993 under the Four Seasons name.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 56 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 70 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 89 mm 1:2,344

Stepped crown
The top narrows in several small setbacks. Print friendly adapts small steps to the print scale, and a layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps each step crisp.
Slim shaft between neighbors
The tower is slim and sits close to other tall buildings. A larger print size keeps the window ribs, and printing slowly with good cooling helps the upper floors.
One piece with the ground
The Four Seasons Hotel New York is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Four Seasons Hotel New York takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
