About the Freeport-McMoRan Center

Formerly known as One Central Park East, the Freeport-McMoRan Center is a high-rise in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona, beside Arizona State University's Downtown campus. When it was finished in 2009, no other high-rise office tower had opened in Downtown Phoenix for nearly eight years. Its name comes from the mining company Freeport-McMoRan.

At first the plan was a multi-use complex pairing the tower of offices with condominium high-rises and teaching space for the university. Financial constraints and the university's tight schedule for its School of Journalism building led to a change of plan in 2006. A topping out ceremony took place on January 27, 2009. A 242-room luxury Westin hotel, announced in May 2010 to take the first eight usable floors, welcomed its first guests on March 10, 2011.

Ground-floor retail, nine floors of parking above ground, eight floors for the hotel and eight upper floors of Class A office space make up the building. Each floor plate offers 2,800 m2 (over 30,000 square feet) free of columns. Vertical and horizontal fins on the glass windows reduce the sunlight entering during the day but keep the views clear.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 28 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 35 mm 1:3,000

Fins and a lattice crown
Fine horizontal fins and a lattice-like frame at the top give the glass tower its texture. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print and 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers.
One piece with the ground
The Freeport-McMoRan Center is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Freeport-McMoRan Center takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

The Freeport-McMoRan Center is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Freeport-McMoRan Center STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The Freeport-McMoRan Center grows with the print: about 28 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
