About the Golden Nugget Las Vegas

Downtown Las Vegas is home to the Golden Nugget, a luxury hotel and casino on the Fremont Street Experience. It was originally built in 1946, which places it among the oldest casinos in Las Vegas. Steve Wynn built up his stake until, in 1973, he became majority shareholder and the city's youngest casino owner. He opened the first hotel tower in 1977, and Mobil Travel Guide gave the resort its first four-diamond rating. A second tower and a showroom followed in 1984, and a third tower in 1986.

The property changed hands several times afterward. Mirage Resorts' properties, the Golden Nugget among them, were sold to MGM Grand, Inc. in 2000, and Poster Financial Group paid $215 million for the Golden Nugget in 2003. That group's story provided the basis for a Fox series called The Casino, which premiered on June 14, 2004. Landry's, Inc. said on February 4, 2005, that it planned to buy the property, and the deal closed on September 27, 2005. A 14-month, $100 million renovation followed, completed in November 2006.

Further phases widened the resort. Phase II, finished in December 2007, extended it west onto First Street with more entertainment, event and dining venues, and the Rush hotel Tower opened on November 20, 2009, adding 500 rooms in a $150 million project. The expanded resort is arranged around two aquariums, and the larger one faces the swimming pool, where a slide runs through a tank of full-grown sharks. The lobby holds the Hand of Faith, a nugget of 875 troy ounces that is the largest one on display in the world.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale

Window grids on tall towers
The towers carry fine grids of windows. A larger print size keeps more of them, and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the vertical lines crisp.
Narrow gaps between towers
Several slab towers of different heights stand close together. Print friendly adapts thin parts and small details to the print scale; Full detail keeps every modeled feature, which suits a larger print.
One piece with the ground
The Golden Nugget Las Vegas is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Golden Nugget Las Vegas takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
