About Horseshoe Las Vegas

Horseshoe Las Vegas is a hotel and casino in Paradise, Nevada, on the Las Vegas Strip. It opened on December 4, 1973, under the name MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. Architect Martin Stern Jr. designed it, and the design was modeled on grand hotels common in Europe in the early 20th century. The original hotel rose 26 stories and held 2,100 rooms, which put it among the world's largest hotels.

A fire on November 21, 1980, that began in a casino restaurant killed 85 people, and it ranks among the worst high-rise fires in the country's history. The fire led to fire safety improvements worldwide, and it forced the resort to close for a time. The MGM Grand was rebuilt for $50 million, with new fire safety features, and reopened on July 29, 1981. A second tower, also 26 stories tall, opened later that year and added more than 700 rooms.

In 1986 Bally Manufacturing bought the resort and gave it the name Bally's Las Vegas. Paris Las Vegas, described as a sister property, opened next to it in 1999, and the long-running show Jubilee! played at the resort from 1981 to 2016. The name Horseshoe Las Vegas arrived on December 15, 2022, when Caesars Entertainment rebranded the resort following a renovation. It takes its name from the downtown Las Vegas casino known as the original Binion's Horseshoe.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 750 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 19 mm 1:4,688
200 mm 23 mm 1:3,750
256 mm 30 mm 1:2,930

Fine window lines on the slab
The wide tower faces carry many thin horizontal and vertical window lines. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print or with a fine nozzle.
Stepped wings and roof boxes
Lower wings step down beside the tower, with small boxes on the roofs. A larger print size keeps those small shapes, and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep their edges crisp.
One piece with the ground
Horseshoe Las Vegas is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Horseshoe Las Vegas takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
