About the Golden Temple
The Golden Temple is a gurdwara in Amritsar, Punjab, India, and the holiest site of Sikhism. The complex is a group of buildings around the sanctum and a sacred pool called the Amrit Sarovar. Akal Takht, the chief center of religious authority in Sikhism, is one of them. A langar, a free community-run kitchen, serves a vegetarian meal to every visitor without discrimination.
Guru Ram Das, the fourth Sikh Guru, finished the pool in 1577. Guru Arjan, the fifth Guru, started construction of the gurdwara in 1581 and in 1604 installed a copy of the Adi Granth inside. Mughal and Afghan armies destroyed the gurdwara several times, and Sikhs repeatedly rebuilt it. In 1809 Maharaja Ranjit Singh rebuilt it in marble and copper, and in 1830 he overlaid the sanctum with gold leaf, which gave the temple its popular name.
Worshipers of every faith and from every walk of life are welcome at the temple. The plan is square, with four entrances and a path for walking around the pool. Those four entrances stand for the Sikh belief in equality and for the view that people of every group, caste and ethnicity are welcome. Guru Arjan planned the gurdwara at a lower level than the city, to emphasize humility.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 4 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 5 mm | 1:3,000 |
| 256 mm | 6 mm | 1:2,344 |

- Small domes and finials
- Four small corner domes with pointed finials surround the central dome. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; for a crisp result use a larger print or Full detail, with 0.12–0.16 mm layers.
- A small building, a big pool
- The temple sits in a wide area of water, so the building is small within the print. A larger print size keeps the arched windows and the walkway to it readable.
- One piece with the ground
- The Golden Temple is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Golden Temple takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
The Golden Temple is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Golden Temple STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. The Golden Temple grows with the print: about 4 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
