6 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Slim tower and lantern
A narrow tower rises to a small railed lantern with a vane on top. Print friendly adapts these thin parts to the print scale; slow printing with good cooling helps the top.
- Tapered body and balconies
The tower tapers upward with railed balconies around it. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm keeps the taper smooth and the railings crisp.
- One piece with the ground
Great Beds Light is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Great Beds Light takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Great Beds Light
Roughly 1 mile (1.6 km) off South Amboy, in Middlesex County, New Jersey, a sparkplug lighthouse stands in Raritan Bay. Great Beds Light has come to serve as the symbol of the city of South Amboy. Other lighthouses of Raritan Bay include Sandy Hook Lighthouse and the Navesink Twin Lights in Highlands.
The light dates from 1880. It carried a fourth order Fresnel lens and marked the Great Beds Shoal, an area of dangerous shallow water in the bay. Its foundation is a conical caisson measuring 30 feet (9.1 m), standing in water about 11 feet (3.4 m) deep. Tower and lantern together reach 47 feet (14 m) across five stories.
The lighthouse is recorded in the National Register of Historic Places, with a date of May 29, 2008. The listing cites architecture, engineering, transportation and maritime history as its areas of significance, and gives the name Great Beds Light Station.
