About the Hong Kong Museum of Art
Hong Kong's first and main art museum, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, abbreviated HKMoA, sits on Salisbury Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, at number 10, near the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, with the Hong Kong Space Museum also close by. The Hong Kong Government's Leisure and Cultural Services Department runs it as a public museum. It has a branch called Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware, located in Hong Kong Park in Central.
The Urban Council founded the museum on March 2, 1962, inside City Hall in Central, under the name City Hall Museum and Art Gallery, and in July 1975 the Hong Kong Museum of History was separated from it, with the HKMoA carrying on. In 1991 the HKMoA moved to Salisbury Road, and Governor Chris Patten formally inaugurated it on September 11, 1992. It closed on August 3, 2015, for a renovation and expansion costing $400 million, reopening four years later, on November 30, 2019.
The museum changes its displays regularly, and they center on works of painting, calligraphy and sculpture from Hong Kong, mainland China and elsewhere. In 1962 it held Hong Kong Art Today, the first show built around Hong Kong art. Since 1975 it has been home to a biennial show of contemporary Hong Kong artists' work, first called the Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibition and carrying the name Hong Kong Contemporary Art Biennial Awards since 2009.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 10 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 13 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Fine horizontal lines
- The facade is wrapped in many fine horizontal lines. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep them crisp, and Print friendly may merge the finest lines on a small print.
- Angular stepped roofs
- The roof steps up in angled blocks with small stair-like details. Print friendly adapts these to the print scale, while Full detail keeps them on a larger print.
- One piece with the ground
- The Hong Kong Museum of Art is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Hong Kong Museum of Art takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
The Hong Kong Museum of Art is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Hong Kong Museum of Art STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. The Hong Kong Museum of Art grows with the print: about 10 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
