23 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Stepped, tall tower
The upper floors step in as the tower rises, and the model is tall and narrow. Print slowly with good cooling, and a layer height of 0.12-0.16 mm keeps the setbacks crisp.
- One piece with the ground
The Hotel Carter is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Hotel Carter takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Hotel Carter
Near Times Square in Midtown Manhattan, the Hotel Carter stands at 250 West 43rd Street. The Dixie Hotel, as it was first called, opened in June 1930 with 25 stories. The building originally reached from 43rd Street through to 42nd Street, though the wing beside 42nd Street has since been demolished. Its upper stories first held 1,000 rooms, which were later cut to 700.
At ground level the hotel originally had a bus terminal, which operated until 1957, with a bar and restaurant just above it. The terminal's center held a bus turntable 35 feet across, ringed by twelve loading slips, and at peak summer times it handled 350 buses a day. The hotel's first-story nightclub, the Dixie Lounge Bar, opened in 1942 in a Southern Colonial style.
The Uris Buildings Corporation developed the hotel, with plans for the site announced in September 1928. In 1931 the Bowery Savings Bank foreclosed on it, taking ownership in March 1932. In 1942 it joined the Carter Hotels chain, and in October 1976 it was renamed the Carter.
