Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Gables and chimneys on the roof

The roofline is busy with brick gables, dormers and chimneys. Print friendly adapts these small shapes to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on larger prints.

  2. Balcony railings on the front

Thin iron balconies run across the front facade. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm and a larger print size keep those fine horizontal lines crisp.

  3. One piece with the ground

The Hotel Chelsea is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Hotel Chelsea takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Hotel Chelsea

The Hotel Chelsea sits at 222 West 23rd Street, in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood, on the street's south side between Eighth and Seventh Avenues. It was built between 1883 and 1884, and Philip Hubert designed it in a mix of Queen Anne Revival and Victorian Gothic elements. Among the first Victorian Gothic buildings erected in New York City, it was, when finished, the tallest apartment building in the city, at approximately 180 feet (55 m).

The front, facing 23rd Street, is 11 stories tall and made of red brick, while the back rises 12 stories. Five sections make up the facade, with pavilions that project at the west end, the center and the east end. Iron balconies ornamented with flowers run from the second through the eighth stories. A high mansard roof caps the building, with a pyramidal slate roof over the central pavilion, brick chimneys, dormer windows, and brick gables with large arched windows on the end pavilions.

The Chelsea began as a housing cooperative and was converted into an apartment hotel in 1905. It quickly attracted authors and artists. Residents have included Leonard Cohen and Patti Smith, along with Bob Dylan, Arthur Miller, Dylan Thomas and Mark Twain. Its duplex and penthouse apartments were among the first of their kind in the city. It has been designated a New York City landmark, and it is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
