About the Hungarian Parliament Building

The Hungarian Parliament Building, called Országház ('House of the Country') in Hungarian, is where Hungary's National Assembly sits. It stands on Kossuth Square on the Pest side of Budapest, on the Danube's eastern bank. Imre Steindl, a Hungarian architect, designed it in the neo-Gothic style. It has held the title of Hungary's largest building since it was finished. The Gothic look was influenced by Vienna City Hall, while the Renaissance-style cupola took cues from Vienna's Maria vom Siege church.

Budapest was formed in 1873 by uniting three cities, Buda, Óbuda and Pest. Seven years after that, the Diet decided to build a new parliament building, and an international competition was won by Steindl. Two other competing designs were also built later, as the Ethnographic Museum and the Ministry of Agriculture, which both face the Parliament. Construction began in 1885, and the inauguration took place in 1896, which was thought to be the country's 1,000th anniversary. The keys were handed over in 1902, though it was not fully completed until 1904.

The building is symmetrical, with a central dome in the Renaissance Revival style and two identical parliament halls on opposite sides. One hall hosts sessions of the National Assembly, and the other is used for ceremonies, conferences and tours of the building. It measures 268 meters (879 feet) long and 123 meters (404 feet) wide, and holds 691 rooms, 10 courtyards and 29 staircases. Its height of 96 meters (315 feet) alludes to the 1896 celebration of the country's presumed 1,000th anniversary. Inside and out, 242 sculptures decorate the walls.

Spires and pinnacles
Many slim spires and pinnacles rise around the central dome. Print friendly adapts thin parts like these to your print scale; Full detail keeps them, best printed slowly with good cooling and 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers.
Repeating gables and arches
The long river front is lined with pointed gables and a row of slender arches. A larger print keeps these repeating details easier to read.
One piece with the ground
The Hungarian Parliament Building is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Hungarian Parliament Building takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
