Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Roofline dormers and a boxy tower

The top of the building has a steep sloped roof with many small dormers and a boxy tower. Print friendly adapts these small parts; Full detail keeps them for a larger print.

  2. Arched ground floor

A row of arches runs along the base, with rows of windows above. A bigger print size and a 0.12-0.16 mm layer height keep those arches readable.

  3. One piece with the ground

John Jay Hall is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. John Jay Hall takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About John Jay Hall

John Jay Hall has 15 stories and sits at the southeastern tip of Columbia University's Morningside Heights campus in New York City, at the northwest corner of 114th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. The name honors John Jay, a Founding Father and diplomat from Columbia's Class of 1764, who became the first Chief Justice on the nation's highest court.

McKim, Mead & White designed it, the firm that had drawn up Columbia's first plan for the Morningside Heights campus, and it was one of that firm's final buildings. It was finished in 1927. After the First World War, much larger enrollment and steeply rising rents in Morningside Heights created pressing demand for new dormitories, and John Jay was constructed to be almost twice as tall as the ones already there. It was first called Students Hall.

The building includes freshman rooms for Columbia College and its engineering school, the university's main undergraduate dining hall, and its health services center. During the Second World War it housed midshipmen of the U.S. Navy and was operated for training as though it were a ship, under the name "USS John Jay".
