About the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra
The Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is a historic lavra, meaning a large monastery of Eastern Christianity, in Kyiv, Ukraine; it is also called the Kyiv Monastery of the Caves. The Pecherskyi District in Kyiv takes its name from the Lavra. The Ukrainian word pechera means cave, and lavra is used for high-ranking male monasteries of the Eastern Orthodox Church. The Lavra started in the 11th century as a cave monastery and has been a foremost hub of Eastern Christianity in Eastern Europe.
A monk named Anthony, from Mount Athos, chose a cave at Berestov Mount, above the Dnipro river, and disciples soon gathered around him. Prince Iziaslav I of Kyiv later turned over the entire mount to them, and architects from Constantinople built the monastery they founded. Monks of the monastery wrote important literary works, among them the Primary Chronicle and the Kyiv Caves Patericon. A printing house set up by Pletenetskyi in the 1620s was an early step in printing in Ukraine.
UNESCO inscribed the Lavra as a World Heritage Site in 1990, along with Saint Sophia Cathedral. The monastery complex is also treated as a separate national historic-cultural preserve, a national status granted on March 13, 1996. After a long period of reconstruction, the rebuilt Dormition Cathedral was reopened on August 24, 2000.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 29 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 37 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Tall octagonal bell tower
- A tall octagonal tower narrows to an open arched upper stage and a small domed cap. Print friendly adapts thin parts to the print scale; Full detail keeps them. Print slowly for the cap.
- Clustered onion domes
- Several small onion domes with crosses crowd the church roof. A bigger print size keeps more of them, and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the curved domes smooth.
- One piece with the ground
- The Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Kyiv Pechersk Lavra takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
