6 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Chimneys and roofline details
A gridded roof feature and other small details sit on top of the flat roofline. Print friendly adapts these small details to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on larger prints.
- Porch columns and window rows
Thin columns hold up the porches, and many small windows fill the walls. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm and a bigger print size keep them crisp.
- One piece with the ground
Kykuit is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Kykuit takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Kykuit
Kykuit is a historic house museum with 40 rooms in Pocantico Hills, New York, a hamlet that belongs to the town of Mount Pleasant. It is 25 miles (40 km) from New York City, to the north, and is also called the John D. Rockefeller Estate. It was built for the oil tycoon John D. Rockefeller, and four generations of the family lived there. The name is a Dutch compound meaning "lookout", and the house crowns the highest point of Pocantico Hills with views over the Hudson River at Tappan Zee. The National Trust for Historic Preservation owns it, and Historic Hudson Valley gives the tours.
Delano & Aldrich, meaning the architects William Adams Delano and Chester Holmes Aldrich, designed Kykuit as a stone mansion of three stories with a steep roof. That first eclectic building took six years, but Abby Aldrich Rockefeller did not like the result, so it was largely rebuilt as the four-story Classical Revival Georgian house it became. Finished in 1913, the house has two basement levels full of connecting passageways and service tunnels. Ogden Codman Jr. designed the interiors, which hold Chinese and European ceramics, 20th-century art and fine furnishings.
In 1906 the architect William Welles Bosworth took over the design of the grounds. He created terraces and gardens in the Beaux-Arts style, adding fountains, pavilions and classical statuary, among them a Grand Staircase, an Italian Garden, a Japanese Garden, the Oceanus fountain and a Temple of Aphrodite. A National Historic Landmark designation came in 1976, and in 1979 Nelson Rockefeller left the National Trust his one-third share of the estate.
About this model
Kykuit is one of more than 4,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
