14 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- A long site among towers
The hotel is a long block with a recessed top floor and a decorated cornice, packed between taller neighbors. A larger print keeps the cornice details readable.
- One piece with the ground
The Martha Washington Hotel is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Martha Washington Hotel takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Martha Washington Hotel
The Martha Washington Hotel, at 30 East 30th Street in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood, opened in 1903 and ran as a hotel only for women for 95 years. For the Women’s Hotel Company, Robert W. Gibson designed a 13-story building in Renaissance Revival style. Its namesake was Martha Washington, the nation’s first First Lady. The city has designated it a landmark.
Brick and stone cover most of the facade, which has classical touches: rustication, quoins, ornate lintels, dentils and brackets. Along 29th and 30th Streets it divides into seven bays, with a two-story base, a ten-story upper section and a recessed top floor. The two lowest stories held guest amenity areas, such as a lobby, a ballroom and dining and reception rooms. Above were 200 rooms for short stays and 400 long-term residences.
The company behind the hotel was established in 1897 and spent the next four years looking for a site and raising money. Building work started in mid-1901 and the hotel opened in 1903. Demand was high at first, but the hotel struggled, and its owners turned to leasing it in 1907. From 1920 until 1948 the Manger family ran it, and the Sillins Hotel Corporation did so from 1950 through 1997. In 1998 it became a tourist hotel for both men and women, and in 2000 it was renamed the Thirty Thirty.
