14 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Arched upper facade
The upper facade has a set of tall arches and a stepped roofline. Full detail and a larger print keep the arches readable; 0.12-0.16 mm layers help the edges.
- One piece with the ground
Morgans Hotel is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Morgans Hotel takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Morgans Hotel
Morgans Hotel, at 237 Madison Avenue in Manhattan, is described as the world's first boutique hotel. Ian Schrager, a cofounder of Studio 54, founded it as the first property of the Morgans Hotel Group, and it opened in 1984. He and Steve Rubell opened it, and it was named for the nearby Morgan Library & Museum of J. P. Morgan. Andree Putman designed the hotel, whose design introduced the boutique hotel category.
The building itself dates from 1927. Andrew J. Thomas designed it, and it was erected as Hotel Duane, meant for guests staying a long time. An article of that era describes the exterior as a loose reading of the Italian Romanesque style, in harmony with the fraternity clubs building to the north. Putman served as interior designer for complete renovations in 1984 and 2008, and the lobby was a two-story, balconied "living room".
Morgans Hotel Group was publicly traded on NASDAQ for over a decade; in May 2016 SBE Entertainment Group agreed to buy it for $805 million, a deal completed on November 30, 2016. In July 2017 Shel Capital and Kash Group bought the building. Its new owners shut the hotel and turned it into luxury condominiums in 2018, with the name No. 237.
