27 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Cluster of conical towers
The older building has several pointed conical roofs and small dormers. Print friendly adapts thin tips like these to the print scale; Full detail keeps them for larger prints.
- Tall tower beside it
A tall, narrow tower rises behind the older building. Print slowly and use a layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm to keep the tall walls clean.
- One piece with the ground
The New York Cancer Hospital is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The New York Cancer Hospital takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the New York Cancer Hospital
Founded in 1884, the New York Cancer Hospital treated and researched cancer on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Its home was 455 Central Park West, on the block from West 105th Street to West 106th Street. As a hospital devoted only to cancer care it was the first of its kind in the country, and the second anywhere, following the London Cancer Hospital. When it grew too big for its first building it moved, and the institution later became Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Charles Coolidge Haight designed the building in Late Gothic and French Chateau styles, drawing on Loire Valley chateaux. It was built of brick in a deep red, with Belleville brownstone in soft brown, and big cone-topped towers sit irregularly on three of its fronts. The hospital grew southward in 1890. In both sections, Haight placed circular wards, about 12 m (40 feet) across, partly so that a nurse at a central desk could watch over the beds.
In about 1955 the hospital turned into Towers Nursing Home, and decline set in for the building. New York City designated it a landmark in 1976, and in 1977 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Perkins Eastman Architects designed its conversion into luxury condominium apartments, carried out in 2001–2005.
