187 m of the New York Life Building, 50 mm on your shelf
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Keep the roof lantern distinct
The pyramidal roof ends in a small, slender lantern. Use 0.12–0.16 mm layers to keep its vertical detail crisp, and print slowly with cooling for the narrow top.
- Preserve fine facade details
Thin projecting lines and small arches cover the tower's facades. Choose Print friendly to adapt those details at smaller sizes; a larger print with Full detail keeps every modeled feature.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The New York Life Building takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the New York Life Building
The New York Life Building serves as the headquarters for New York Life Insurance Company. Its address is 51 Madison Avenue in Manhattan, New York City, beside Madison Square Park. The site fills a block between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South, with 26th Street and 27th Street forming the other boundaries. Cass Gilbert designed the building in 1926, and construction followed in 1927–1928 on a site previously occupied by Madison Square Garden. The commission provided space for the insurance company to expand and also served as an investment.
At 187 m (615 feet), the tower combines Gothic Revival ornament with a building form influenced by Art Deco. Its facade uses granite around the base and limestone above. Successive setbacks lead up to a gilded roof shaped as an octagonal pyramid, with a lantern at the summit that vents air from the building. Gilbert drew on Salisbury Cathedral and his earlier work, including the Woolworth Building. National Historic Landmark recognition followed in 1978; the city granted its own landmark designation in 2000.
