Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. A compact mosque at default size

A compact mosque has carved detail and window openings that shrink at the default size. Printing it larger, or keeping Full detail instead of Print friendly, gives them room.

  2. Layer height for upright walls

Walls that rise straight up show every layer. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm, with slower printing and cooling near the top, keep the upper edges clean.

  3. One piece with the ground

The Ortaköy Mosque is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Ortaköy Mosque takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Ortaköy Mosque

The Ortaköy Mosque sits at the water's edge of the Ortaköy pier square in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, one of the Bosphorus's most popular locations. Its formal name is the Büyük Mecidiye Camii, the Great Mosque of Sultan Abdulmejid, and the Ottoman sultan Abdülmecid I commissioned it. Work finished around 1854 or 1856, with scholarly sources differing on the exact dates. The building is a symbol of the Ortaköy district and is often photographed for its view of the Bosphorus Strait and the Bosphorus Bridge.

Its architects were Garabet Balyan and his son Nikoğos Balyan, an Armenian father-and-son team who were also responsible for the Dolmabahçe Palace and the Dolmabahçe Mosque nearby. Their design is eclectic, drawing on the European Revivalist fashions of the period, Neoclassical among them, alongside details from the earlier Ottoman Baroque, and the mosque is set apart from others of its period by ornate stone-carved decoration. A square prayer hall under a single dome joins a two-story imperial apartment with a U-shaped plan. The facades have engaged columns and carved stone reliefs, two rows of windows light the interior, and the two slim stone minarets carry balconies that resemble Corinthian capitals.

The site held a mosque built in 1720, which the Patrona Halil Uprising of 1731 left in ruins. The present mosque was damaged by the Istanbul earthquake of 1894 and suffered a minor fire in 1984, and has been repaired several times since. Cracks spread through its original brick dome, and by the 1960s the leaning building had its foundations reinforced and the dome rebuilt in concrete; it reopened in 1969. A restoration taking three years finished in 2014, when the mosque was formally reopened on June 6, 2014.
