7 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Cupola tower and small spire
A small tower with a domed cupola rises from the roof, and a thin spire stands beside the porch wing. Print friendly adapts these to the print scale; slow printing and a bigger print keep them cleaner.
- Porch columns
The porch wing has slender columns along its front. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm, or Full detail on a larger print, keeps them distinct.
- One piece with the ground
The Reformed Church of Newtown is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Reformed Church of Newtown takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Reformed Church of Newtown
In Elmhurst, a Queens neighborhood, stands the historic Reformed Church of Newtown. Dutch immigrants first established the church in 1731. In 1652 the Dutch founded the neighborhood under the name Middenburgh, then a village suburb of New Amsterdam. In 1664 New Netherland passed from the Dutch to the English, and the village became New Town, a name later shortened to Newtown. In the late 1890s Newtown was renamed Elmhurst, but the church kept its original name.
The original building was completed in 1735 in the Federal-Greek Revival style. It survived the colonial era and the Revolutionary War, when the British took it over as an armory. The present sanctuary replaced it in 1832 and holds designated-landmark status from New York City. The National Register of Historic Places added the complex in 1980, and the original cornerstone remains visible in the foundation of the present building.
The Landmarks Preservation Commission noted that the sanctuary and its adjoining fellowship hall are among the few church groups in the city built entirely of wood. A 1989 renovation replaced cupolas that a storm had damaged. Over time, preaching shifted from Dutch to English, and services for Taiwanese and Mandarin-speaking worshipers were added. President Dwight D. Eisenhower visited in 1956, for the church's 225th anniversary.
