9 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Statues on the facade
The front of the church carries a row of statues and moldings. They are fine details; Full detail keeps them, best on a print of 200 mm or more.
- A flat facade on a block
The front is a flat face of statues, moldings and windows, with little depth. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the cornice lines and recesses sharp.
- One piece with the ground
San Luigi dei Francesi is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. San Luigi dei Francesi takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About San Luigi dei Francesi
San Luigi dei Francesi is a Catholic church in Rome, close to Piazza Navona, and in English it is called Saint Louis of the French. It honors the patron saints of France: King Louis IX, the Virgin Mary and Denis of Paris. It is France's national church in Rome, and a titular church as well.
Cardinal Giulio de' Medici engaged Jean de Chenevières in 1518 to give the French community a church. His plan was for an octagonal, centrally planned building. Construction stopped when Rome was sacked in 1527. Domenico Fontana and Giacomo della Porta finished the church in 1589 with a facade of their own design, entirely unlike the earlier scheme, and it was consecrated on October 8, 1589.
That facade was made as decoration, independent of the structure behind it, and architects later copied the approach widely. Its statues recall French history, among them Charlemagne, Saint Louis and Saint Clothilde, along with Saint Jeanne of Valois. Inside, the Contarelli Chapel holds three canvases by Caravaggio, painted in 1599–1600 on the life of Saint Matthew, and the Polet Chapel has Domenichino frescoes on the history of Saint Cecilia. Antoine Dérizet restored the interior between 1749 and 1756.
