  1. Church facade and columns

A church facade can carry thin columns and fine ornament. Use Full detail on a larger print to keep them, or Print friendly to keep slim parts sturdy at small sizes.

  2. One piece with the ground

San Paolo Maggiore, Naples is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. San Paolo Maggiore, Naples takes the building color.

About San Paolo Maggiore, Naples

The basilica of San Paolo Maggiore, in Naples, southern Italy, is where Saint Cajetan, founder of the Theatines, is buried. It stands on Piazza Gaetano, a block or two north of Via dei Tribunali. The Baroque church occupies the site of a 1st-century temple of the Dioscuri and was built upon its ruins. Two Corinthian columns from the ancient temple still stand in front; a fragile beam projects from the facade and joins them.

Until an earthquake destroyed it in 1688, the front section of the temple, with six columns and a triangular tympanum, could still be seen. The building was handed over to St Cajetan and his Theatine order in 1538. General reconstruction began in the early 1580s with the transept and the polygonal apse, followed by the nave by Gian Battista Cavagni. Giovan Giacomo di Conforto designed the aisles, which date from 1625 onwards. Massimo Stanzione painted the nave ceiling with canvases showing scenes from the life of St Paul.

The interior follows a Latin cross plan. Ferdinando Fuga designed the main altar, sculpted in 1775–1776, and Domenico Antonio Vaccaro made the statue of the Guardian Angel (1712) in the nave. The cloister dates from the late 16th century. It has a square plan, with a well supported by small columns at its center. An Allied bombing in 1943 did severe damage to the church.
